Dad's arrival on December 7th in Ft. Lauderdale was everything we had hoped for and more - our family thanked the local committee and all of the other supporters around the world who have made this possible - Ham Operators, Restauranteurs, Hoteliers, Friends, Yachties, Sponsors and the Media - click here for the record of the trip on his story (updated 12/13/01)

His return generated lots of press - a few of the stories can be found in the following pop-up menu:

He finally departed on this monumental journey at noon on December 5th, 1999. As he sailed through the 17th Street Bridge in Ft. Lauderdale and out of sight, we were at the same time heavy hearted and relieved. I was there to see him depart as was Lynda Clark (wife), Jeff and Nathan Clark (son and grandson) and Milda Isenberg (a friend and sponsor)

To the right is a photo of Dad and Mickey next to the liferaft so generously donated by Poul Jensen of Viking Lifesaving Equipment in Miami. Viking and Hornblower Marine Services teamed together under the lead of HMS President/COO John Waggoner to present the liferaft at Ferries '99 in Ft. Lauderdale in November of 1999.

We all sleep better knowing that Dad is equiped with this fine piece of Viking lifesaving equipment!!
